Default Is the g3 vision worth the upgrade?

I currently have version 2 and overall I'm happy with it but, I was fishing my buddies boat the other day and was blown away by the cmor mapping his simrad has. It seems there isn't a comparison between the 2 and I've read a few others state Garmin released it too early. So is it worth the upgrade or should I hold out? Im currently running 2 94 dv echo maps and looking for better contrast for deep dropping and wreck fishing. Thanks

Default G3 vision

I also want to know info on the g3 vision. I have no chip in mine at the moment for mapping. I also fish a buddys boat with cmor and it’s game changing. I need to find chip for my garmin close to cmor

Where are you both located. Jeffreys Ledge locate NE of Boston.

Note: These screen shots are from Navionics Plat + Charts remember Navionics is owned by Garmin now sharing chart information from both platforms .... Navionics now has Garmin relief shading incorporated in their Plat + charts.

Those do look good, as for bottom fishing will it show the detailed ledges, holes and wrecks like the cmor does?

Not with the detail CMOR does, however, Garmin updates twice a year I'd wait until the next upgrade later next year I'm sure they will only get better. I fish the Hatteras south area.

This down by Cape Lookout Garmin 7610xsv

They have a $100 rebate about to run out. That is why I pulled the trigger on the purchase already. Still will have a full year of updates and it didn't cost $500.

Tom, what's the depth shading, detail like around the Oriental, Western Pamlico Sound area with this card? Is the G3 Vison better suited for offshore use or can it be utilized inshore as well?

Tom, Thanks for posting those screen shots. Think I'll order one today and take advantage of the rebate.
