Jesus they make a lot of units these days...
I have a 7612xsv and a 741 currently...
I want to replace 741 with a 12" screen....
What's the difference between 1222 and 1242 to act as a companion to my 7612xsv??

The 1222 / 1222xsv does not have built in US maps...a base maps only.
The 1224 / 1242xsv has G3 US Coastal and G3 Inland Lakes and Rivers Maps.

So if I'm running a vision card on my 7612 xsv... does that cross-over the network.. and short of redundancy no other advantage, Gil??

You can share the Vision across the network from either units.
Having warranty is an advantage for the 1242 / 1242xsv..and possibly a bit longer support from Garmin.

Is there a longer warranty on the 1242, Gil?? I get the longer support notion... but how do the warranties differ?

If you are speaking of a brand new 7612xsv then it has the same 2 year warranty....
I was only thinking of those who have 7612xsv units that could be 3 to 5 years old etc...thus out of warranty...and therefore any newer unit with warranty could be a postive.
I like both units...
