I saw some old discussions about using Garmin Homeport under Wine (the windows emulator, not the product of fermentation), and I was hoping that somebody knew the trick.
Write the Maps to SD, put SD in SD slot, SD card is mapped into a drive letter, start HomePort, no maps.
I tried starting HomePort and then inserting the card, still no maps.
Anybody got the key to getting me free from Windows?

Drive and port mapping is difficult and unreliable using wine. You might try Crossover which is a slightly more polished version of Wine. Homeport for Mac still runs on earlier versions of OSX like Mojave. You can run Windows using Parallels, or if you are dead set against using the Windows version, you can run OSX Mojave under Parallels and keep the Mac version.
On the Mac, copy the Garmin card to an image file (.dmg). Your Mac will load it and you won’t need the Garmin SD card installed to access maps.

Thanks for at least confirming I'm not doing something stupid. It seemed too easy. Maybe they will integrate their online map thing into the app at some point, I did actually pay for them. :-)
