Garmin is fixed pricing. Everyone should be the same price.

Pick the place based on service instead.

There are deals to be made on slightly used gear, check with our THT vendors for that possibility along with the parts forum on THT. Also check re manufactured prices when available. Many times local boat shows have vendor sponsored deals, of course large boat shows are few these days, and maybe not a good time to be in a large crowd, but I do believe eventually everything is going to be alright !!

When current products get discontinued there are great deals on the existing inventory, a good time to buy if you do not have to buy the latest and greatest.

Bundled deals also help lower the cost, be a smart buyer.

Garmin like Furuno and Simrad do have certain units that are required to be sold at a specific price..called MRP.

But in the op's list only the 8616xsv is a MRP unit...the other items will be at a discount.

"8616xsv, Garmin Gmr 24 Xhd Radar, Garmin Gxm 54 Sat weather/ Radio Antenna, Garmin Vhf 210 215 Ais Marine"

And yes, service and support is very, very important.

Actually I believe Garmin (or any mfg) can have a minimum advertised price, but they can't tell Vendors what they must sell them at. Although most stick to the MAP because it doesn't ruffle any feathers.

MAP and MRP are 2 different animals. Manufacturers absolutely can and do tell legitimate dealers what they can sell at and wont sell to them any longer if they violate that policy. Sure its easy for some guy with zero inventory, brick and mortar, trained technicians and technical support to sell at a cheap price, but that sweet taste soon turns sour when you are calling , nights weekends and holidays looking for customer support that simply isn't and wont be there. That is what separates real dealers and why manufactures have made it not about the cheapest price but about customer service.

Since you're in Texas, and probably not going to buy locally, check out the GPS Store before you buy anything. https://www.thegpsstore.com/

I'm a Distributor in the medical world that is a partner with the manufacturer. If I sell to an online retailer and they sell below MAP they lose their ability to buy from me. In my world MAP is 30% over list wholesale.

I think what you will find buying Garmin product is that if you can approach a dealer with an order for a full suite of electronics that also includes non-Garmin products with no resale price limitations, they will effectively discount the Garmin stuff too by giving you a big "package" discount. Otherwise you will be operating in a pretty narrow range and all the pricing will be similar.

A good, established dealer even if buying online is critical and shouldn't make much of a difference in price.

In 2016 I bought a 94sv from Gil. Had a question and called his listed phone number. Yes, unfortunately it was a weekend. He not only answered his phone, answered my question, all the while on vacation flyfishing in Montana. More than impressed.

As said above, make a list of all the stuff, including transducers etc, that you're going to buy and look for the best package price (you can save hundreds this way). Gil will rarely, if ever, be beat and he actually knows this equipment well and is easy to access either by phone or this forum.

When you're only talking a few dollars difference either way, price isn't the selling point. Service is. Will the seller be there for you?

A friend recently repowered with brand A because of price, but now wishes he had spent more to go with brand B because of service. Now, every time he needs anything done, he has to trailer up and haul. Save a nickel, spend a dime.

if you are going to self install, then lowest price is most relative-if you need the dealer to install, I suggest you contact Jim Davis in League City or Trionics in Houston-both are in your area and do good work
