I hope not!

I just had mine installed on our boat yesterday; however, I have not had a chance to try it out yet. From what I have read in the manual, it shouldn't be much more difficult than my Garmin 12 - which is very easy to use.

It's a great unit, take the time out to read the book and play with the unit. you do not need a class.

I have a 180 and a 182 and find that with a little reading and practice they are quite easy to use. Compared to some other brands I demo'ed these were the most intuitive to me. You will like them.

We have the 182C on our boat too. I learned many of the functions in the first four hours of being in the boat.

Make sure you get a BlueChart. The detail is amazing.

I recommend buying the AC adapter cable for the unit. Its $45 through and allows you to sit in your house and play with every function of the unit that you could ever want to. Also you can download software updates from garmin as it includes a 7-pin connector. When its this cold you can sit inside and pretend a nice diversion also in the summer you can take it hamoe and make entries for all the spots you have marked fishing that day (more time fishing less time typing).
