best speakers for the money? Is JL's cheaper line of speakers any better than kicker, fosgate, wet sounds, ..... I have 4 kickers now and they sounded good until i accidentally cranked them to max and blew them up. They were cheap and came with a cheap rockville amp.

The sound they produce is all a little different and personal preference. I have no experience with fosgate or kicker marine, but have had my ears blasted by all sorts of different JL and WS setups. IMO the JLs produce a deeper fuller sound more bass focused. The WS are a bit clearer with a slightly higher sound profile. Both sound excellent when tuned properly, just depends on your personal preference.

I have 4 of the entry level 6.5 WS on my little whaler and they're still in great shape producing great sound 3 years later.

Personally, I would rather spend more up front for the "entry" level JL or WS than cheap out to save a few bucks per pair on one of the newer brands to the marine audio market. It's worth the expense up front to go with a known commodity.
