Default Sorry, another thru hull ducer question for 582L

Well, I swapped out the Furuno 1650 for the 582L. Consumers was great about exchanging, just add $285 to the box and mail back. I just looked over both at the Palm Beach boat show, and the size and brightness of the 582 screen made me change my mind.

I am planning on installing the thru hull this week. Have the Airmar 600 watt unit(single element) with their high speed fairing block (man that thing is huge)

My question is regarding the placement. I have a 261 Mako with 24 degree deadrise. I remember Thom's post from way way back, where he placed his directly off the centerline. I believe I can do the same without coming into contact with the trailer as the last few feet of the boat hang off the trailer. My concern is any effect that placement may have on the motors. They sit pretty close together on the transom. Has anyone done this and have had problems with cavitation? My other alternative would be to mount a good way off the centerline as I have water pick ups to each side of the centerline approximately 25" off the centerline. Thanks for any input......
