Default Garmin Reactor 40 Install - Verado

I am about to buy a Garmin Reactor 40 with GHC20 and Smartpump for my boat, which has two 350 Verado's.

I have installed AP's before, but nothing in a verado boat, so I am trying to figure out what fittings and hoses i will need before i get it all here. I see that there are two different fitting kits available from retailers, one includes high pressure hoses and fittings, the other does not include high pressure hoses but comes with more fittings and shut off valves. Examples provided below. Sorry if posting links is not allowed.

Does anyone have a list of what they used to install this setup on a verado boat? It's not a big deal to get hoses made if I have to, but if the kit with hoses will give me everything I need that would obviously be more convenient.

I searched and found an install thread, but it wasnt for a verado setup.

Either kit should work. A mix of both would be best. Hoses along with the ball valves. If you pick one, I’d go with the valve kit and buy the correct length high pressure hoses (sold as a pair) from a Mercury dealer.

Thanks for the input.

Are the ball valves necessary? I get that its so you can isolate the pump if it has a problem, but will the steering work manually if the pump fails and the ball valves arent installed? Or will the fluid flow through the pump and short circuit the fluid path?

The kit with the hoses seems to be missing one high pressure hose if you were planning on installing the Shadow Drive unless it could be mounted directly to one of the tee fittings.
