Default Raymarine Axiom Pro..Element

Going to pull the Trigger on a new Chartplotter/Sonar...Looking at the I Fish Usually less than 125 ft.Although I have been hitting the Ocean for awhile and Fish Wrecks and Reefs .Probably won't go over 300 ft. Max....I like the Axiom Pro for the Touch Screen and Knob control..Element seems to fit the Bill though for what I would be using it for.
I've compared features and power between the two. My Head is spinning!! Power wise..Is the Axiom better than the Element power wise? I want Down scan,Side Scan,3D,Chirp and all the Bells and Whistles Sonar wise...Need it laid out in Layman's terms for a Dummy.....
Last but not least who has the Best price on these.? I know there is a $250-$500. rebate till the end of the year. There are So many different configurations of these units,I'm kinda dumbfounded.

What do You Guys think?

Simply put: Axoim Pro is (as the name hints to) a tool for the ones who are serious about their fishing. Element is (again as the name hints to) something with the basics and not much more.
The 2D-sounder of A Pro is in another class then the Element, and especially when paired to Airmar for 2D SIGNIFICANTLY better in depths deeper then 50m/150f.

Can You change the Color Palette's on the Element and Axiom Pro?
How are the Navionics charts compare to the LNC2 charts?
Is Real Vision on the Axiom the same as Hyper Vision on the Element?
What is the difference between the Lighthouse Sport and Lighthouse 3 O.S. ?

I just picked up 2 axiom pros from a member here. Haven't installed them yet but have been messing around with them in my garage and on the boat temporarily (haven't found the time to do the install between holidays etc). Like others have said extremely easy to use especially if you like Android based software. Maybe they are the red-headed stepchild here on this forum because some of the older Ray Marine stuff has gone a bad rap from everything I read before this axiom line came out. But I could tell you first hand, from somebody who is not computer savvy, that with the little bit ive used them until I do the permanent install it has been extremely easy to navigate through the pages. There are a few guys on here that have them and use them I'm sure they will chime in once they come across your post. You could also go to the Ray Marine forum and read through the many many informational posts which have been very helpful to me to get a better grasp and understanding of the axiom for the odd questions such as this versus that etc.

Regarding real vision and hypervision I believe they are two different frequencies that they run on and therefore they are different. Hypervision runs at a much higher frequency and gives much more detail but at the cost of needing to be in extremely shallow water to obtain this detail.

Lnc vs navioncs- you could go to both websites and compare the detail for your area yourself. To my understanding navionics is much more detailed and informational for my area Northeast New York City salt water.

Regarding the other two questions you had if you post them on the Ray Marine forum those moderators over there are extremely helpful and knowledgeable or you could just give them a call which the wait time is only about 2 or 3 minutes.

You can change the color palette on both machines. The Element software is a bit different because it is all buttons,no touch. The Axiom Pro is buttons and touch and is a little easier to go thru the menus when using different panes.I personnaly liked the down vision and side vision in the Axiom pro a bit better than the Element. They use different transducers. That being said the Element has the 1.2MGH and DOES give a sharper image in down and sidevision. The Raymarine LNC2 charts are very nice, but I have all 3( Navionics platinum plus,C-map 4D and the LNC2) .They all have different advantages.Depends if your in the ICW or way offshore.I tend to have the Navionics on.The Element will run all three.Capt.Mike

Way to many to post but you can check out real saltwater screen shots from my boat, here...https://www.fishgaak.com/screen-shot

I have a B175m through hull transducer. The Axiom Pro has a built in 1kw chirp sounder built in. I have screen shots holding bottom at 1800". If you can operate a smart phone you will have no problem using an Axiom Pro.

I run Axiom Pros on my boat.

I just ran my boat 50 miles inland for my annual haul out.I used all three. We had to go through a lock inland to get to the boat yard. The Navionics was the only chart that showed all the canals where we were going. On the way back we we in the ICW in a unfamiliar area. The New Raymarine charts showed all the navigation markers beautiful. There all good.Tough choice. Some charts are better than others in specific parts of the country.Capt.Mike

Same boat as the PO. Im Replacing my old electronics, going with the Raymarine. Saw it again, and pretty impressed with everything. Processors speed incredible. Raymarine had its downfall in 2010, bought out by Flir, and there definitely on the upswing.
There radar, AP, n charts r flawless. Airmar makes the teansducer. So all the same. Furuno would be my real close second choice.

Think I am the only one in the world that likes the Raymarine Lighthouse Charts. Most accurate, up to date (with monthly free download), READABLE natucial charts. Just like the REAL NOAA paper charts (ok I am old school). I CAN'T STAND Navionics+. Looks like a kids colouring book. Half the Community Edits on the screen is wrong or out of date (At least for Cape May Harbor, NJ). If you send in a revision, they dispute your information. Half the back bay area I navigate in has me up in the marshland, while in reality I am in 15 feet of water. And WHAT's Up with all the "pink birds" all over the chart (Yes, I know you can turn 'em off, but your also turning off other "important" data as well). Does everyone really know what all the Navoionics/Raster nav symbols really mean, (Have looked over the NOAA map legend recently...?).

As a plug see Marine Ways app for Android for a side to side comparison of Raster vs. NOAA chart information.

West Marine has best deal on Element 9HV w/ transducer & Navionics+ @ $750. Act fast though...think the Sale ends this Sat.

GPS store for Element7HV & 12HV w/ transducer & Raymarine LNC chart

Been told to stay away from the Axiom's by "in-the-know marine electronics dealer" who carries Raymarine. I know & have been emailed that there a new software update for the Axiom with "enhancements, upgrades & software fixes." It is my understanding the Axiom was rushed into the market to compete with other brands when 1st introduced, however the unit did not complete its Beta testing.

Ericg460, You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.I am a Raymarine tester and level 1 pro staff. Your contact in the " know" is wrong.Raymarine has hundreds of testers thru out the world. There are very specific hours required before software or hardware is released to the public. If the hours are not met we just hold off for a week or two until there met.It happens all the time.I personally have used Axiom RVX pro 12 ,Axiom RVX pro16,Axiom pro 9s,Axiom XL22 and Axiom 7.I have over 2500 hours of testing the Axiom and the software.I have also tested the Element 7,9 and 12.We always have products and software not available to the public...WERE TESTING IT. Raymarine/ Flir has on of the most extensive testing programs period.I deal directly with senior product engineers in the U.K.Please do not comment on FACTS you don't know.Capt Mike
