Default AXIOM Yamaha Connectivity

I have a 2005 Yamaha F150 I am installing on my boat. Can I connect the engine to my axiom and use that interface for my gauges? If so, what do I do for a fuel gauge? If I don't go that route, can I use square Yamaha gauges on a 2005 engine?

While you're checking the ECM, look for the white connector with the blue and white wires. Yamaha 2005 F150 NMEA 2000 Connection?

Legacy Raymarine MFD's were capable of reading engine data from 2005 F150's with ECM's numbered 63P-30. Whether that would be true for your new Axiom unit, I would have no way of knowing.

-32 is fully Command Link capable.
So you can use Yamaha Command Link gauges, round or square
(if you can find square - they are no longer made)

and you can connect to your Axiom to get engine data via NMEA 2000.

If you want to display fuel tank information on your Axiom, you will have to provide the display with NMEA2000 compatible data. There are two ways of doing this that I know of: (1) retaining your analog tank sending unit and attaching a converter such as the Lowrance EP-65R fluid level sender; or (2) replacing your analog tank sending unit with a NMEA2000 sender such as the Maretron TLM150. Each approach presents the major difficulty of having to program the units using a Lowrance or Maretron head unit, respectively.

I went the route using the Lowrance EP-65R. This required temporarily adding a borrowed Lowrance head unit to my Raymarine SeaTalkng network to do the programming. The result was satisfactory, but I was still relying on a stone age sender which provided constantly fluctuating data, as the float swung back and forth with the boat's movements. If I had to do it over again, I'd replace everything with the best technology available.
