I have a Garmin GHP10 w/2.0 pump on my 42' Harley Sportfish w/twin BBC gas engines, and Arneson Drives for about five years. It worked "pretty good" for awhile, and over the last year it has been
having a hard time holding a course, and it finally quit all together this past summer. I disassemble the pump, and found that the armature shaft was broken. I was very surprised by this. I don't know what
would have caused that to happen. Maybe I'm expecting too much from it? The steering system is full hydraulic with power assist, and no rudder indicator input.
After researching a new pump: I'm still not sure which pump I need. I have it narrowed down to either the 2.1L pump, or the smartpump. I called Garmin, and they don't seem to have a recommendation,
since it is for an application they don't have a lot experience with. The GHP10 is interfaced with a Garmin 7612, so I would prefer to stay with Garmin.
Has any one here had any similar failures? Can the 2.1 or the smartpump handle the higher pressures of a power assisted system?
Thanks for any help!

Well, it looks like I am going to order Garmin's Smartpump. I am doing so under the assumption that it will work for any application. If anyone has any thoughts or
advise, I am all ears.
thanks,
Steve
