Better fish finder for freshwater, Garmin vs Hummingbird?
Im buying my dad a new fish finder for Christmas. He has and is a little more use to his old hummingbird he has now. Its only going to be used in lakes for crappie and bass fishing.
Main reason for the upgrade is to get a bigger screen. He is not that tech savy so ease of use is important. I was looking at the echomap from garmin but he seems interested in the Hummingbird still which im not familiar with. How do you think they compare for that type of use? |
Your dad likely has a Minn Kota trolling motor, which may be able to interface with the Hunminbird. It definitely can’t interface with the Garmin. Hummingbird mega down and side imaging if pretty good stuff, too. Humminbird Lakemaster charts are, I think, better than the Navionics lake charts that Garmin uses. Garmin does have than Panoptix livescope, which is pretty neat, but personally, I would go with Humminbird. |

This is from Lake Russell SC yesterday just before all rods went down. Those are 10lb stripers. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.the...53a5b2b5e.jpeg My Garmin 94SV does pretty dang well. |
Have tried both the garmin 94sv and the lowrance ti. Do your dad a favor and get him the hummingbird with mega. He’ll catch more walleye and bass |
