Default Garmin 8412xsv and Mercury engine data

Does the Garmin 8412xsv display engine data for any of these new Mercury V8s
I understand there is also the vessel view and vessel view link options but these seem to connect to Simrad and lowrance only to display all data on there screens.
What are the options for displaying this vessel view data on the Garmin - or maybe it just can't be done.
Any feedback appreciated.

Mercury NMEA2k Gateway. Vessel View Link will also transmit the SmartCraft data, but it will be limited by Garmin.

Thanks for that. Do you know in what way it will be limited eg what it will and won't show.

Tied together a VV7 w/nmea2000 to a pair of 8617's and trip 350 6cyl. Verados and I can't say I've seen any data fields not transferred. Alarms, fuel, pressures, hours, trip data are all available. I would imagine the V8's are no different.

The alarm data will be limited. Other features like cruise or troll control also won’t be available. I’m sure there’s some other minor stuff that I can’t remember.

If it were me, I’d install a VV502 or VV703. That way you’ll have full VV functionality as well as a unit that will be able to use mapping cards like CMOR, Florida Marine Tracks, Strikeline, CMAP, Navionics, etc. It will function just as a Simrad GO5 or NSS7 Evo3 will.

I'm with David on this one, leave the valuable MFD space for nav/radar/sounder duty and use a dedicated engine display. About the only boats I've done that could afford to burn a display for engines are big motor yachts and enclosed bridge boats with 4 or 5 glass bridge monitors and even those still had CAT MPD's or DDEC displays.

The two main reasons I tie into the N2K network are for sea trials where I can build a page with both engine and nav data (speed) all on one and just take screenshots at each rpm increment. The other is to add a simple display on a tower station (like a GMI-20) that can show engine data if desired. Simple since the N2K is already up there.
