Default Newbie needs help

Hello everyone, I am new to the boating scene and need some guidance. I just bought a 2004 Dolphin boat 22 bull dolphin and am wanting to install nav and fishfinder on it. I currently have two gpsmap 4210 but need (from what my research is telling me) a GSD 22 or 24 in order to hook up some sort of a transducer? From what I have read the transducer recommendation is a B60 or B160 which are two massive price differences but can be the difference in finding fish and not finding fish. The other option is a buddy of mine has a nss12 that he has offered to give me but I would have to buy all the cables to get it working, now I am not 100 percent sure what that would be... I am gathering that maybe the gps antenna or receiver is built into the simrad? And then what about a transducer, can I just hook it up to the simrad or do I need that box I believe the something 5100 box? which route should I go? what would be the better option? Thanks for any advice.

What is your budget? That is the starting point.

I would like to be under 1k if possible and I know on the Garmin the gsd is going to eat up most of that but on the nss12 I’m not sure what all is required to get me up and running.
