Default Need electronics advice

I am new to the site so please excuse any errors. I want to outfit a 31 ft downeaster with new electronics. I've looked at Garmin, Furuno, Northstar and Simrad. I have a three old Furuno 1712 with LCD that I will probably use for the radar setup but I still want to have a networked system so that I can add a new radar in the future. Basically I am looking for the "best" GPS chart-plotter and fish-finder right now. I like the 10 inch displays. It's a lot of money so any advice and opinions on what the best system is would be greatly appreciated. A big concern is reliability. Thanks

Welcome to THT. All those brands are good and there are loyalists here for all of them. Suggest you try using the search function - type in the actual model number of various units you are considering and you'll get lots of posts discussing the good & the bad.

Tough call. For 10" displays Garmin & Furuno have networked systems. It is widely held that Furuno is superior for Radar & FF and Garmin for Plotter.

You could get "the best of both worlds" by installing one of each. By adding the black boxes to each system, you could build in redundancy. One of the members here did just that. Take a look:
