Default Aquatic AV subwoofer mini review

I have a 22 cc Mckee. Originally had the Aquatic DVD head unit, 4 channel amp and one pair of the oversized coaxials installed firing down from my ebox.

Since the amp was bridged there was plenty of power to the coax speakers and it sounded good but there was a not a great deal of low end both because the speakers arent designed for that and the ebox is not the best place for bass production.

This week had the Aquatic 10" sub installed in my console. After discussing it with my nephew (local marine electronics installer) he decided to install it on the rear console surface firing toward the leaning post. We changed the amplifier set up to bridge just two of the channels for the sub. After getting the crossover and gain settings right, it sounds very good.

The 4 channel amp produces plenty of power for the set up (I still have the gains fairly low). The coax speakers are now freed up to do what they were designd for. The console is quite regid and produces excellent volume and sound. I am thoroughly impressed. I am sure the JL Audio speakers are nice but at this point I dont think the gain would justify the expense for me since I cannot imagine needing more bass, etc.

The subwoofer has an integral grill with a design similar to that of the coax and there is also a small LED light but I didnt hook this up. I did hook up the LED's on the coax speakers and they wash the top of the console with just enough light at night. I am going to suggest that Aquatic put red LED's instead of white ones in the speakers since this wouldnt interfere with night vision.,
