Default Speaker stopped working.

I have a four speaker clarion system. Last week one speaker just quit. I have never worked on one. Do I access it from the cover ? and then what? ect... Any sugestions greatly appreciated.

Clarion speakers usually have 4 friction tabs that hold the cover in place. Try to wiggle a screwdriver under the cover at the 6 o'clock position and pull away from the mounting surface to release the cover. Then you'll probably see 4 screws that hold the speaker in place. Remove them and test the stereo with a new/different speaker, if possible. It is probably a bad speaker but it could be bad wire, amplifier etc. Good luck.

even the best speakers can blow if abused...

after removing the speaker, take a 9 volt battery, and make some small jumpers to connect the positive and negative leads of the battery to the to the positive and negative leads of the speaker. if the speaker makes a pop sound and the cone pushes in our out, then the speaker is most likely fine and you have another issue.

I recently replaced all my Clarion Speakers with MB Quartz. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. The clarions aren't that good.

I would start by checking the connections, i.e. are all wires connected for that speaker. I’m thinking if it just quit, silent, it may be a wire that wiggled loose. I don’t know the Clarion, but if all wires are in place, is it possible to swap the connectors for a left and right speaker to start debugging to see if the problem is the speaker, the wiring or the Clarion?
