Default Trolling patterns with S1000 AP

I finally got my S1000 to work. Took it out on a 140Km run and it seemed to work fine. One issue I have is with the trolling patterns and how they are initialized. The manual says that to initialize a troll pattern select the required pattern and then press 'Pilot'. On my unit I have to go Mode>Auto then Pilot then Mode>Pattern and then select pattern size. Has anyone else had this. By the way I mounted my pump at the rear as I knew that it was going to be a loud bugger, the only downside if this was having to run a long balance line to the helm. I'm in Australia so I'm running a local hydraulic system called Hydrive, built like a Sherman tank and works great, good Aussie engineering.

You have to run for a short period of time in auto. Then, you select you pattern/size and press pilot. I love mine, though I'm still figuring out the relationships between pattern size, speed and the actual size of the patterns on the water. It's a great way to really cover a spot while trolling.

Thanks for that CC, why didn't Raymarine put that in the manual. I have put a post in the BOE Marine section about software versions and what the upgrade from ver 1.02 to 1.31 has improved, maybe you could make some comment on this.

My manual included a one page supplement that included the update. It sounds like you got an earlier production model from before they worked out technical and communication bugs. One of my biggest beefs about the state of contemporary business (post Microsoft) is that it is now perfectly acceptable to release a flawed product. Sometimes, they even sell you the upgrades. This is not a slam against RayMarine just the way things seem to be since MBAs started running the world. Good luck,

Michael

My NEW Raymarine S1000 AP is running version 1.02 software (I'm trying to get my hands on 1.31), if and when I upgrade to the new software are ther likely to be any changes to the way the AP functions. Do you know if they fixed up any glitches with this version.

I'm not really up on the details of the software, but please keep me posted on your progress with the upgrade. I'm sure that at some point, I'll find it desirable to upgrade. I'd love to know how. Thanks, Michael

How do you update the S1000 software?
