Default Garmin to Humminbird GPS

How do I download my waypoints from my Garmin 172C to my new Humminbird 947C. I have the PC Cables for both units.

P.S. I bought the boat with the Humminbird. I don't like it nearly as much as the Garmin.

He captain,
How do you like the Garmin in general, I am thinking of getting a 172 myself. Eventhough it is discontued, there are some good deals out there.
Thanks,
Rudy.

Easy GPS is a great program but only apparently supports Garmin, Magellan and Lowrance and not Humminbird.

The 172 is a fabulous machine. I think I paid $500 for it including the chip. The Humminbird which was on the boat I just bought retails for about 3X that I don't think it is as good a GPS. It does have sonar but I don't fish offshore much. I highly recommend the Garmin 172C.

You need to go to: " http://www.humminbird.com/public.asp?id=528 " and register your unit. You can then update your unit's software and obtain
"Humminbird PC" application ,you can then use it to store waypoints, routes, hot spots,or convert other GPS manufactures data to work with your new system. good luck

Easy. If you have Mapsource and Humminbird PC. Save the Garmin waypoints as a "gpx file" then open the Humminbird program and patch them across. I have a 172C on the console and a Matrix unit up the front on the electric motor. The matrix is used as a combo so I have all the waypoints on both machines. Note when downloading from the Garmin GPS only download the waypoints and not the tracks as it won't work

UPDATE: I kept banging my head because Humminbird PC will only "Open" a .gps or .gpx file. But with mine it didn't work. I used g7towin to save the file as a .gdb file. Finally, in Humminbird, I went to import (instead of Open) and imported a .gdb file and it worked. Thanks.
