radar question

Default radar question

I am plannig on getting radar on my 23 cc with a t-top. The light mast is about 18 inches high and infront of where the radome will go. will that light pole screw up the radar reading.?

If the lightpole is skinny, no it should not affect it, but I did have a problem with a spotlight I had mounted in front of the dome. If you have any problems, it's simple to fix all you have to do is simply buy a mount to put the dome on top of that will raise it just over the top of your light. These are commonly used and can be bought to fit your boat and radar.

The antenna is anywhere from 18" to 24" in lenth--and thus it will not "see" anything in the beam at that distance. I have had sailboat masts 8" in width which did not obscure a pattern either foreward or aft, with a 24" antenna.
