Default Best Offshore Electronics Combination- Dual Ray 120s?

What is the best offshore combinations. My dealer suggested twin Ray 120s and 2 radios.
Will the twin 120s assure me a backup GPS in case one goes down? What about a backup fishfinder. Will I-coms network with the Ray 120?? What is the advantage of twin 120s??
Lots of questions ? ;? Need answers!

What kinda boater are you? - what he has recommended is very off shore/inter-country type work...or SKA type boating...a bit overkill for weekend boating stuff...another tip.. you're new here - before we can help you tell us all about your situation so we don't have to go back and forth asking a bunch of investigative questions...what boat is this? a 57 viking or a 18 wellcraft?

do a search - lots been written about "best combos" and the like - there is good sense withi staying within a mfr family but VHF's are mostley of that plan - virtually every VHF just needs a "NMEA in" for DSC that every GPS supplies....

but e120's are bad A$$ - no doubt....

E120's or C120's ?

E series are networked. C series are stand-alone

E Series, if one screen goes down, you have another. C series, you have to unplug cables, remove chip & plug-into other unit

If you are into serious offshore use, 2 GPS antennas will provide true redundancy (like 2 VHF's).

Have you ever owned a boat for offshore use ?

What do you think the advantage of 2 screens are ?

What is I-Comms ?

I am a experienced tournament bass fisherman and currently own a 21 foot Ranger with a 250 Verado. I recently purchased a 2nd home at a NC beach and will probably forego the bass tournaments and start fishing King tournaments. I have already fished several king tournaments, so I am somewhat familiar with what is going on, but am new to radar, chart plotters, etc. I am familiar with Gps, because I have a Lowrance on my bass boat. I am asuming the advantage of two 120s is to use one for radar, chartplotter while the other is being used for fishfinding. I was told that I-Com VHF radios were the best, but the boat can be prepackaged with Ray VHF. Thats about it, just need to know optimal setups, how they interface and advantages and disadvantages.

Optimum based on choosing Raymarine: 2 - E120's networked to get any function on either screen. 2 Raystar 125 GPS antennas, 1 connected to each display for redundancy. DSM300 FF Module. Open Array Radar. Definitely skip the RM VHFs & Autopilots. Get a TR-1 Autopilot & 2 ICOM 504 VHFs. Get all professionally installed & integrated.

Advantages - 2 BIG nice screens that you can configure the way you want. Great cartography with the Navionics Platinum

Disadvantages - RM equipment is quirky and plenty of systems are troublesome. Do a search here. Most problems seem to be power related.
