Default garmin autopilot loses input when hit wave

So, I have 3 MFD's (2 7215, 1 8215), T'd with a brand new Garmin GHC 20 shadow drive autopilot. This is on a 60' sportfisher. When it is rolling pretty good out, when I go up on a way hard (no slamming, just rolling up a wave), often the autopilot with lose the heading, and start using a different heading a few degrees, up to 10, different from the original heading, but still remain on active heading hold. The same thing occurs with the 8215. I will have a course plotted, and when it's rough, occasionally, the plotted course will disappear, leaving the unit running fine, but no heading info. The units stay on, so it's not a power issue. This two situations occur independently of each other. Has anybody heard of this issue? Would it be due to where the heading sensor is mounted?

do you know if you are using the rector 40 CCU? it sounds like one of your NEMA connections is losing contact.

for the first problem,
I would try reducing the sensitivity of the Shadow Drive.

The second problem -
are you saying, when you have engaged a "go to" or "route to"
and the 8215 is displaying the "magenta line" -

by itself, without any input -
the unit "stops navigating" ? the magenta line disappears?

Yes, that is exactly what I am trying to say. I did turn down the sensitivity on the shadow drive but it still does it. I guess I can try more.

have tried disabling the "cockamamie shadow drive" to see if the problem persists?

The first thing I would do is completely turn of your shadow drive in the config.

The shadow drive/losing AP is one aspect, the more disconcerting one is the 8216 losing the course, and randomly going back to the home screen for no reason. The screen is dry. Fished yesterday, and it's getting worse.
