Default through hull transducer fitted on angle

just bought trophy 2052 wa . transducer was mounted on the starboard side in front of the engine. it is mounted flush with the hull so it points to the side. am having interrmittant freezing problems with the sounder nav5500. is this the cause? whats the best solution?
am thinking of making a spacer splayed to fit underside of hull to straighen up transducer. any thoughts?

The transducer may be a tilted element transducer. They are designed to fit flush with the hole. The element is tilted inside the housing so it still shoots down. Check that out first.
