Default Through hull versus transom mount; any comparison?

So I have a transom mount on my DX400X, it works pretty good but the more I read about em I see people rave about the performance of the through hull xducers.

Right my ff is on a boat that is up for sale so I might get a new one for the replacement boat. Is it worth the added cost to go through hull?

Any and all help is appreciated.

I have used both and prefer the transom mount, it is easy to adjust a transom mount until you have a clear picture at all speeds.

Your boat (and its mounting logistics/limitations) and how you use the sounder dictate what is going to be the better choice. What is the new boat going to be, how do you fish, etc.?

I don't think you'll necessarily get better performance from a thru-hull if your transom mount is installed correctly in the proper location. Thru-hulls are a necessity for inboard boats only.

I have a 17 foot Blue Water with an I/O; right now the FF on it is an old humminbird, but I wanna put the raymarine in there. The main use will be for sturgeon, stripers, and salmon in the delta and rivers, not likely I'll fish water over 100 ft deep. Finding sturgeon right on the bottom is the goal....

Put the boat in revurse, say to hold on a spot and the transom mount X-ducer will go blurry from the propwash.

I can put my motor's in revurse and not loose the screen, that is until I really rev the motor's. A transom mount X-ducer really clutter's up the transom. UGLY! It usually take's more than 4holes in the transom to install one, at least if you install adel clamp's to hold the cable to keep it from flopping and get snaged and or ripped off.

Still there are some boat's better suited to a transom mounted X-ducer.
