Default combo depth/GPS

I have read the post about the LCX-111 and looks like very fine piece of equipment. And I was about buy one yesterday but then noticed that unit was too tall to mount in my electronics box. So now I am researching to find a new unit to put in my boat. I am kind of looking for a combo unit cause my depth finder went to crap this summer so I will have to replace it and right now I am using a Navman 5500 GPS but doesn't seem to get as acturate as I would like.

Since the LCX-111 looked like a good unit so I went to Lowrance website and found two smaller units that looked like they have the same features. Both the LCX-25c and LCX-26C HD seemed like the same units so I was wondering what makes them different.

I would am also interested in other combo units from manufactures that are about the same price and most of the same features but I am limited to about 7" in height where it will be mounted.

I like the lowrance unit I have... great use of screen space and the user gets to define the size / location of split screens should you so decide I had a cup holder to the right of my speedo etc. that I used to mount the unit.. see http://sempreveloce.tripod.com/id2.html

nothing but praise from me for the 335CDF I purchased.. they upgraded resolution in the 337C DF...

If you're going to go with Lowrance, buy an Eagle instead. They're exactly the same units, made by the same people but the Eagle is much cheaper than the equivalent Lowrance.

Think the 26C HD has a hard drive.

Lowrance makes great stuff. I have owned 2 lowrance combo units and both are awesome. Go to the Boater's World web site for a deal.

Made by the same but not the same. Totally differnt processors, different technology in the displays, different technology in the GPS antenna, Eagle has no networking capabilities.....ect..

Eagle is great for it's capabilities and is often confused as the "same as Lowrance" but they are not and many ways .

Might try Jim at BOE, his prices and service are very good and he is a sponsor on this forum.
