Default Anybody have experience with Pyle Audio?

Looking for a new setup and the Pyle CD/FM/AM/XM Ready unit is well priced and includes a wired remote. 10 Disk CD Changer is a good price as well. I have heard of them before, but don't know their reputation.

a better idea.....
10 disk changers are dead merchandise - get an mp3 player that will hold 10 times the amount of 10 tunes difitally and keep them saltwater proof....no changer to brteak/corrode long term...just get the head unit but make sure it has some type of aux in for the mp3 player (e.g.ipod)...

Pyle is decent cheap stuff. The remote that comes with it will quit on you. The stereo itself is ok. I have had bad luck with the changers. If you want a good marine stereo with a good remote look at the clarion . Two remotes available, both good one's.

For similar pricing and features, look at Boss Audio.

I have one of their AM/FM/CD/DVD/MP3/TV tuner units and use the AUX input for my XM Roady II. So far, so good.....

By Owner Electronics - yachtjim (THT sponsor) sells them.

Anything usefull to add, Duct??

Back in the day we would only buy Pyle when we wanted a "throw away" woofer.

Stick to Clarion, Sherwood, Alpine, Sony, etc for better quality. I don't think I'd put a CD changer in a boat--but my application ( fishing) may be different than yours.

Good luck.

I'll admit that Boss is not in the same class with Kenwood/Sony/Clarion/Alpine, but it works, the sound quality is decent (with Standard Horizon speakers, equal to or better than the Jensen it replaced), and has been reliable so far. Their tech support is impressive for a low-end manufacturer.

It isn't on par with the big names pricewise either.......about 25-30% of what the "audiophile" equipment would have cost and most of them didn't have all of the functions in one unit like I wanted.

For under $300 (including a separate 8" LCD) , this unit:
- replaced the failed Jensen AM/FM/CD which didn't like homemade CDs when it did work
- added capability to play MP3-coded CDs (no changer required)
- added TV and DVD capability
- added capability to connect the XM Roady II via auxiliary input......works great everywhere except the Dismal Swamp Canal........
- all of the above in a regular car stereo-sized package (except the 8" LCD)

I dont have any experience with marine audio equipment, but I have a lot with car audio. As others have said, Pyle is crap. Stay away from the Pyles, Pyramids, Boss, etc. I would go with a good Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony, Infiniti, Clarion, Sony, Alpine, etc radio. I dont know if all of these companies make marine audio equipment (if it is different than car audio). I would suggest going to a place like Crutchfield.com and check out their product offering. I dont think they sell cheap crap like Pyle!

pardon me for my sarcasm

but when someone is recommending a brand that i have installed for people before, and the units fry before they drive the car out of my lot, i guess i feel the need to warn people that the brand is garbage. i never carried boss, but i have had 2 seperate customers bring in head units to install in their cars. both times the units failed right out of the box.

next time i will explain why i feel it belongs in the flea markets

Jensen DVD6115 (marine unit with wired remote, DVD, CD, MP3, .... lots of inputs and outputs....)

Jensen doesn't have the best name but, this unit had been running for 2 years for me now. Lots of nice features.
