Default Weather or not?(XM)

I am about to purchase chartplotter for my flats boat, and was considering getting the XM reciever, which means also a more $$ unit to support the reciever. Add in $700+ per year in subscription rates ($49+tax/fees) and it's a pretty pricey investment. Anybody have this service that can comment on it's value? Thanks

Can you get the local tides for wherever you are at? I travel with the boat quite a bit..

yes - anywhere there is a tide station - you can get quite a few screen shots at www.garmin.com

Saw XM WXon a big Garmin. Bought a 376C with XM WX, and once you have it you will not want to be without it.

Its expensive but well worth it if you have a lot of thunderstorms in your area. There is also a $30/month service that may do for you. I find the weather tracking to be worth the extra $20/month.

I'll turn mine off for winter and pay the $50 rehookup fee though. That'll save some at least.
