Default Furuno FCV 585 L

I've heard a few complaints on this site and others about fogging with this unit if used in direct sunlight. Does it need to be ruturned to the manufacturer for service or does it sort itself out. ;?

I have this unit and it is great.....no fogging issues at all. It is a little hard to see from the side with sunglasses on but just have to move your head a little to get the right angle.

Fishsmell, it sounds like your 585 is flush mounted in the dash? The main benefit of the new style swivel mount is for bracket mounting (if you have the space). I have always flush mounted my electronics (both plotter and sounder) but I have bracket mounted my 585 and it is the best thing I've ever done. Now, regardless of where I'm standing whilst fishing I can swivel the sounder to be best viewed from my fishing position and not only my driving position.

My unit has Fog (condensation) showing up in direct sun. I called Furuno and it has to go back... Great unit I would highly recommend it. Had the 582L previously... Sold on FURUNO.

I don't keep the unit on the boat, so fogging has not been an issue.

Bigger screen, much better picture, more bottom detail due to better target seperation, In short, a great improvement. BTW I have the M-260 shoot thru t-ducer.
