Default dsc nmea wiring questions - manual pics included

Here is the scoop:

Connecting an Icom M422 to a Si-Tex Colormax Wide chartplotter.

Here is the pic from the Si-Tex manual:

And here is the pic from the Icom manual:

I have connected the yellow wire (output1+) from the Colormax to the red wire (nmea in lead) from the Icom. That seems straightforward. This should send an output signal from the Colormax chartplotter to the Icom.

Now, what do I hook the white wire (nmea out) from the Icom to? Do I connect this to the white (input+1) lead from the Colormax? If so, what does the blue wire (signal return) connect to on the Icom?

It seems that there should be three wires from the Icom, but there are only two. ;?

The signal return is labeled common. Looks like it needs to be connected to NEG DC.

Radio U is correct. White should go to white and the commons are neg DC. In my case, any ground point worked. Now the other part....does your VHF have those RCA plugs? Or are the wires connector-less?

Okay, white - white. Done. Yellow from Colormax to red from Icom. Done. Blue (signal return) wire to ground. Shielded wire from Icom red wire to ground.

Right?

AND shielded wire from white to ground....both red and white shield wires (Icom) need to go to ground. Also, your GPS unit may need a certain setting in order to talk to Icom. My Garmin did.
