Default Tranducer upgrade venture 34

I have a venture with a Garmin 7616 XSV and a B258 transducer. I am a deep drop fisherman and my previous boat had a gsd24 and a r-199 shoot tru ducer. I could mark fish in 1000 feet with no problem on my previous boat. The b258 not so much. I have a gsd26 box to install but my transducer pocket in only large enough for a pm265-lm 1 kw chirp. I would really like to install a pm111-lm 2KW but I have to cut the pocket out to make it larger. Will I be able to mark fish in 1000 feet with the 1 kw chirp? I am not the greatest fisherman and need all the help I can get to catch fish. Should I just bite the bullet and itch for a week? what about a 3kw ducer ? Is it that much better than the 2KW?

The B258 can be directly replaced with the B285. Your issue will be it’s only available in a 1kw HW or M single channel.

Could you possibly mount a R111LM or R599LM in-hull? If so, run that from the GSD26 and replace the B258 with a B285HW and run it with the XSV. If you have the room, that seems like the easiest way to cover all three CHIRP channels.

More power will offer better target detection and separation. If you’re going through this much trouble and the budget allows, why not go ahead with the best option available?
