Default Transfer files Garmin to Garmin via internet?

A good friend who fishes the same area that I do just bought a new boat. I want to transfer my fishing spots to his unit but we are 10 hrs apart. Is there a way to transfer the files other than downloading onto a card and mailing it to him?

If you both have Macs. Download your data to a card. Put it in your Mac and make an image file. Upload that file or email it to him if it is not to large. He can burn that image to a card of his own and put it in his plotter.

I assume Windows can do the same, but I don’t know how.

Thanks...both have Windows. Tried to transfer to a file but keep getting error messages. Is it done thru Active Captain?

I just downloaded my Garmin into my laptop with Windows10. I downloaded the file onto a card and my computer can see it but cant open it. Basecamp and my handheld gps also cant read the waypoint and track file but the handheld can read the map. If you just copy and paste it into an email he should be able to copy and paste it to a card and then load it into his unit providing they compatible files. I know you can copy and paste stuff with windows even if you cant open it. I have done it with .cad files sent to me that i cant open but then sent to another computer at work to open.

Yes, simply save your Garmin .adm user data file to your SD card, insert SD card into your computer, then attach this .adm file to an email and send. Then your friend will need to copy this .adm file to his SD card, then Import into his unit.
