Default NEMA sentance codes: expert, please

Can anyone tell me what exactly all these sentences do? These are garmin codes so I think that's why most of the proprietary ones start with "G"....Thanks..I will save this post for future questions....

Further, the new AP I have will not release a waypoint after it has arrived and passed the waypoint...the boat will actually turn around and try and go back to it, instead of cancelling goto and continuing to track forward - any ideas?

Glen..... check this for the information.... http://aprs.gids.nl/nmea/. About the autopilot, I had the same situation coming back from the Bahamas. When approaching, West Palm, I had to stop the autopilot because of a tug, towing a barge. When, I tried to continue.... "goto waypoint, home", the boat turned around, 180 degrees... taking me back to West End. I do believe, that I should have used the "stop goto", on the E120 first.

thanks - exactly what I needed - my problem is not a goto sitation but an anomoly betweeen how garmin writes their nema and the ap - the RM unit I had did the same thing until RM made a change....

Google has all the answers for you, but you need to spell it correctly It's NMEA, not NEMA.

This web site appears to have a pretty good explanation.

NMEA explained

the change was to accept garmin NMEA stuff - no effect on Simrad AP's.
