Default Annapolis Boat Show -- LCX111cHD -- only $999

good news...boaters world is blowing these units out for $999 at the boat show. (this week is the sailboat show, next week is the powerboat show) It costs $16 though to get into the boat show, and most likely you'll have to pay 5% sales tax (I did). However, you still get Captains Card points. I bought several of them. You pay for them at the boat show, and they ship them to you for free. Rumor is that they bought Lowrances entire national inventory of these units and are selling them off. (Lowrance is coming out with a replacement in January)

Larry,
Wow - I was on the fence at 1299 ... but certainly wouldnt pass up 999. The only problem is I am in CT. Do you think there will be a boat show in this area they will be doing that ..... or is there any other way to take advantage of the Maryland deal from absentee ???
Thanks for the heads up, Brian

I had been podering whether to buy one at $1299 offered price till I saw your post. I contacted boatersworld on line and they claim boaters world and boatersworld.com are two different companies with diff policies. I was hoping I could get them to give it up for the 999. I have no boat shows that I know of in Boston area in near future. Did yours come with GPS any also?

Does the package include everything, incl transducer? Normally you couldn't pay me to go near Annapolis this week, but now that I think about, you could pay me exactly $300 to do it. Did you get the impression they were getting ready to run out?

If they are selling them at that price, my bet is BOE Marine can match it...

They are selling these units with the GPS head, 200hz transducer, (you can get the 200/50 transducer unit for a little bit more money.

When they start blowing them out this cheap I start to wonder if there is something fundamentally wrong with them. Too good to be true syndrome. Sure they have a new model coming in January, but this prices is less than half the street price a month ago. Why so dirt cheap? This model is only a year old and they are already dropping it. I'd be really mad if I had bought one at full price. That's a terrible job of protecting customer's value, and it may backfire on Lowrance.

I bought one at $1299 online, and I'm thinking about returning it; it's making me nervous.

Bob, did the one you bought online include the GPS antenna? I have tried to call Boaters World to ask, but one idiot told me it had an internal antenna, and another, which I got on several phones calls attempting to get someone else, was not qualified with English as a first language.

All good points but I wouldn't worry. Mine's got over 50 trips on it this past season and has performed flawlessly. A friend of mine installed one before they were even released to the public and his has been bulletproof as well.

I wouldn't sweat it too much. I think you'll be quite happy with it.

Seems to me that BW is being very smart to do this. Imagine the buzz and the increased interest in the stores.

Also, FWIW, it provides some insight into the mark up on marine electronics.

Boaters World does this alot. When a unit is to be discontinued they buy the whole lot up and blow them out at special pricing. This is a good deal for those units. By the way... who do you think bought Icey Tec coolers?????

See this thread.

Boaters World is still doing the $1299 deal which includes external GPS antenna and 200KHZ transducer, but I hear if you ask they will ship the dual frequency ducer for the same price.

I received mine from Boatersworld.com last Friday. It came with the gps antenna, 200/50 ducer, a separate speed/temp sensor and overnight shipping for $1299.

I hooked it up at home to test and it looks great. I think the install will be slightly more complicated than a non-network unit, but if you have ever wired your house for cable, it should be easy.

The ducer is a transom mount, but I really want to try one of the Airmar thru-hull flush mount units. I'll be looking for one before spring.

For now all I need is a 4kw radar and an auto-pilot for around $1000/ea

There is a software update for the LGC-2000 and for the LCX-111CHD on the Lowrance site. The LGC-2000 should be updated before the LCX-111C. Units built after April(???) 2006 should not need updates. Anyway, check the site and don't trust my memory, I've sure learned not to trust it.

First, BW blew out their inventory of the Eagle Seachamp 2000C GPS/FF for $599 (sold out in about 1 week) and now the Lowrance LCX-111c for $999. Do you think any more unts are in line to go ? I could hold out for the LCX-25 or 26 ... or the LCX-110C if a lilttle cheaper. Just wondering.

Can anyone think of a way to get Boaters World to give up the unit for the boat show price of 999 rather than 1299.99? I called and they claim Boaters World has nothing to do with BoatersWorld.com. Right. I live in Mass. and their are no boat shows up here till Jan. I figure they ought to honor the 999 price to any one who knows they are selling it for that. They also will not give up the number of units they have for sale.

When I was considering how to get around the "Boater's World Regulations," I spoke with a courier who was willing to swing by the boat show for me for a minimal cost (compared to the savings). He seemed like a good guy and was more than happy to do it. I was going to Fed-Ex his check for expenses and Boater's World's check for the unit.

If you would like, I can look for his number.

I went to the show Saturday, and I bought the LCX-111CHD with ext antenna and 200khz ducer for $1015 plus tax, not $999, as originally posted. Also, they had everything in the catalog for 10% off, with free shipping. I would have bought a radome, but I do not have a place to install it on my boat. I also bought the Raymarine S-1000 autopilot for $896, less the Captain's Club discount of $36, so the net price was $860 plus tax. I was like a kid in a toy store!!!

Began thr 111 install Friday. It's a real task on a very small boat like mine. Lots of prefitting and contortionist work required. As of last night (Sunday) I'd not yet finished. Drilling/sawing two one inch holes in my transom and another four on the top of my console was not fun but got er done. Fabricated a Starboard resurface for the console to cover all the old holes including where the compass used to be (had to remove it to make room for the 111). Pulling the two cables from the transom was the most difficult part. Am now down to connecting the network, hooking up the power and making the whole thing look presentable. Probably about five more manhours.

After all that it had better be good. :=)
