Geez, hard to compare, given the various models around.

However, I use both types and much prefer the Northstar 6000i over the Furuno model I use. But, I don't recall the exact Furuno version.

Personally, I dont think the Northsatar Chartplotter can be beat. BUT, I think their other features arent up to par with Furuno. You should also consider a Simrad CX unit

Have both- 6000i for chart plotter, furuno for sounder and radar- love the furuno- on my 3rd northstar in a year- northstar is fast and accurate- the chart plotter on the navnet is good-almost as good as the northstar- I use the navnet as back up gps- If I was rigging it again I would do 2 navnets- 10 inch- done ! watch out for northstar quality issues- PM me for more details--- good luck !

If you want all in one go Simrad CX. Money well spent. I should be a sales rep for them. Great stuff!!

How would you compare their sounder to Furuno FVC 1200

honestly, when you get to that level of machine it comes down to features and transducer obviously. The boat I mate on has the FCV 1200 and it is a great machine, Again, I am biased, but I have a harder time adjusting it than I do on my boat with the Simrad. Obviously thats because I use the Simrad more often. I can tell you this : Simrad makes the transducer by which all others are judged. Unfortunately after seeing one , I decided it might cause a cavitation problem on my boat with twin outboards (it's a big azz ducer), So I went with airmar ( which is just fine as well) . If I'm ever lucky enough to afford a big enough boat, that ducer will be the first thing I install. Neither is a bad choice, it's budget, service-ability and features.
