Default W-H autopilot

Hey all. My new to me boat has a W-H autopilot, model AP-4. Has no display but when in AP mode it does take over the steering, preventing the helmsman from steering by hand. Problem is, it only will correct course to port. I could live without the display if I knew that it worked properly otherwise, I have been unable to find anyone in SE Florida that knows these AP's, mostly a PNW pilot for commercial fisheries. Having said that, I am looking for components for this AP, namely the control head and junction box. Anyone on here have one of these AP's kicking around collecting dust that they want to get rid of? My desire is to get this pilot working, as it is very robust and has control knobs for yaw, rudder and counter rudder which is way handier than having to scroll through a menu to change those settings.
ps the company is no longer in business and the owner doesn't answer the phone numbers that were in operation.
thanks

If Wil Hamm is still alive he has got to be pushing 90 by now. You might try contacting dealers in the PNW area not the southeast. You can get a list from the NMEA.org website.

Thanks. Will try that today. He was still alive about a month or 5 weeks ago. I spoke to him just after we sea trialed the boat, but I was back home in Comox and the boat was/is in Fort Lauderdale. I was unable from memory to explain all that was happening with the AP so it was decided to call him back when I was on the boat. Now I can't get through to him. Oh well.

Nightsky, did you ever find out how to fix the Course Correct? I purchased an older Monk and the AP works great except for the CC in either direction. Dodging work fine but no CC.

I never did anything to it except disconnect all the cables and spray in Corrosion Block and reconnect. It never came back right away but in time it all works. I think that the boat had sat for a couple years and the AP was suffering from lack of use. Took a while to shake all the cobwebs, so to speak. Never did get in touch with Wil Hamm again. Good luck.
