I just installed the 585. I already had the M260 shoot thru 1 KW transducer. I had the 582L before. The 585 is head and shoulders above the 582L. The 585 is bigger, has a cleaner picture, and reads more detail on the bottom. Get the 585!!!!!!!

I installed the 585 which replaced the 600L. I also put the 20 degree tilted through the hull transducer (600W) I don't get the advantage of the 1K, but with the 258 weighing in at around 16lbs and being bulky. I went with the flush mount. So far it works great, but I've only been out to 180 ft. It is still much better than my 600L. Larger screen and twice the power with my set up. Mine is a 21 ft. CC.

If a 582 in direct sunlight you may have a problem seeing it. Under a T top it will be fine. There is a company that puts a polarizing film on it. I did it on an open boat and was pleased with the results. I dont know if they adressed this with the new model but I bet they did. Furuno is on top of it.

I have the 585 with 1kw m260 and it works much better than my old 600L. However, my 600L never fogged up.......this 585, the first one I got fogged......so Furuno and my electronics dealer replaced it. The new one fogs as well. Only does it when sunlight hits it directly and fades after about 30 mins.

Is your 585 flush mounted and left on the boat over night?

Mine fogs as well. One thing to consider is the 585 only uses 1.5 watts of power to operate. The 582 uses 15 watts. I have owned both and the 585 is better in every way.

I had the 582L and switch to the 585 with Airmar T258 Transom mount tranducer (1Kw).

My unit has the fog problem. Now that my fishing seasons over it is going back to them to fix it.

Their both Great units. I like the 585 due to a larger screen and more power (600W vs 1000W.) I think the 585 reads thermos better than the 582L. 585 is an upgrade in technology using digital instead of analog.
