Good idea because nobody I know uses the lanyard - including me I am sorry to admit. Everyone knows the lanyards are a joke - it should be a wireless distance proximity device you can put in your pocket or attach to your beltloop. This is easy technology that can be made cheap.

Just the other day there was a guy thrown from his boat in St.Aug inlet and the boat started circling him dangerously...SeaTow jumped the unmanned boat and stopped the mess before anyone was killed.

Don't remember the details, but I believe I did see something like that recently. I'll have to google it.

I did see a system from ACR recently that has a device for each member of the boat that sets off a warning when the wearer goes too far from the central brains unit to alert the rest of the crew. I think I saw it on the LSRE site referenced on THT. I don't think this one has an engine kill feature.

Guy fishing alone off the NC coast about a month ago fell out of his 25' center console while trolling w/ auto-pilot on. Other boaters spotted the empty boat and initiated a search. Found the guy after 5 hours alive and no worse for wear. He was lucky the water was warm.

I have gotten in the habit when fishing alone of attaching a 5' teather to the kill switch so if I go overboard hopefully the engine shuts down.
