Default ST5000 to 6001 conversion

Can anyone tell me what parts to buy for converting to the 6001, I have the 5000+ with linear rudder reference and it's currently inoperative. I would rather upgrade than try to fix this unit. Thanks.

not much carries over - maybe the fluxgate compass - that's about it..not sure about the pump, but the computer and rotary feedback unit and bracket are all new....NEVER GET A LINEAR FEEDBACK UNIT AGAIN...they are corrosion prone...I ran 2 5001's and a 6001 with the rotary feedback unit and it worked very well with no problems on any of the units...

The pumps are the same, as well.

Good choice. The ST5000+ (which I have) is "un-fixable".

As stated, you can re-use the pump & fluxgate. You will need a display like the 6001 or 6002 and a course computer (S1 or S1G). Most here say the S1G (gyro) is worth the difference

Replace the POS linear feedback with a rotary feedback unit. I assume you have O/B's so you will need an epoxy filled unit (the stock RM unit is made for below-decks instalation).

Talk to Jim at BOE (board vendor) for the display & computer. PM me if you need a source for the feedback.

Please post your results. I have been trying to fix (AKA - wasting time & $) the ST5000+ and just haven't gotten around to replacing it.

I'm moving to a TR-1.....my RM works ok but does not have the emergency "grab the wheel and take over " feature that I want... the tr-1 does that instantaneously....was on Jim Z's boat and I was sold.....
