Default I need a little help with my Eagle Fishstrike 1000c

This is also a seachamp 1000CDF with fish-finding sonars and maping GPS... the problem is .... when I try to enter a LAT or Lon.. ..into the waypoint section...When I try to enter a # like this.. 27 47.600N.. the unit will receive all the #s until I pass the . correctly, then the unit will not record a number above the # 5.. I cannot enter the 6...... stated again.. once past the first two sets of #.. the unit will not let me enter any # above 5.. I am wondering if my machine is in the wrong mode for my area..I live at Tampa Bay, Fla.. I would appreciate any help I can get on this issue.. I like the machine just fine, except I want to be very exact on my waypoints....thanks a lot .. if you can help..

are the units decimal units or degrees, minutes, seconds? If it isn't decimal then the machine is correct as there aren't more the 60 minutes or 60 seconds.

It looks like the default is in minutes and seconds. The procedure to change it to hh:mm:sss is described on page 138 of the owners manual. You just need to change the data format and you should be good.

I don't know if you have your manual but if you do, go to page 138, Coordinate System Selection. I have copied the text from an on-line PDF file but was unable to also copy the screen shot of what your unit will show you. The text is shown below. If you follow the instructions below, you'll see a drop box that shows two windows. The window on the left will be titled: Coordinate System, the one on the right will be labeled: Coordinate System 2. You want to use the window on the left and select the second item down: Degrees/Minutes, this will allow you to use lat and longs down to one thousandth of a minute.
Good luck, I'll be away for a few days and this will be my last post for a while.

Coordinate System Selection
The Coordinate System Menu lets you select the coordinate system to
use when displaying and entering position coordinates.
Menus for changing coordinate system.
To get to Coordinate System Selection:
1. Press MENU|MENU|? to GPS SETUP|ENT.
2. Press ? to COORDINATE SYSTEM|ENT.
This unit can show a position in degrees (36.14952°); degrees, minutes
and thousandths of a minute (36° 28.700');
