Default NMEA Connections: Garmin 182C to Icom M502

Does anyone know the correct NMEA wire colors to connect for these units to function together?

Ok... Assuming you have the ICOM M502 and not the M502A...

Page 98 of the Garmin manual show to connect the GREEN WIRE (NMEA OUT) from the garmin to the NEMA + of the 502 and the BLACK WIRE (GROUND) to the NMEA - of the 502.

Page 35 of the ICOM M502 manual shows that the NMEA + connection is the center pin of the RCA connector on the pigtail behind the radio and that the NMEA - is the shell of the same connector.

OK, I have a similar question:

I have a Furuno GP-30 that I want to talk to (DSC) a Furuno FM-3000. What I have is the red and white leads out of the VHF and a 6-pin NMEA cable with green, white, yellow, black and bare wires. Which wires on the 6-pin do I attach the red and black leads to?

I thought this would be simple, and it probably is...for anybody else!

Thanks

Wow . Any idea how I could make a connection like that without being a marine electronics professional? Is there a centerpin connector available that I rig up to the GPS wires and simply plug together with the male pigtail coming off the VHF?

Go to Radio Shack and get a male RCA connector and solder the connector to the GPS unit....

or run the GPS wires into a terminal block and use the male RCA connector and a length of wire from the terminal block to the radio.
