For a 24' center console, in terms of clarity and volume at the sandbar, am I better off with 4 6.5" speakers or 2 8" speakers? I'm looking for something that will have pretty good volume and clarity from the boat, while hanging out in the water. Looking at the JL audio MX650/MX770 or the wetsounds 65i/808. I plan to pair the speakers with an Wetsounds HT-2 amp 600 watt amp, and a JL audio 10" sub with a JL audio 300 watt mono block. Already have the sub and the HT-2, so still need to buy speakers and the amp for the sub.

For a system as you described I would not look at the MX or the sw65 speakers. You should be looking at the JL M series or the wet sounds Revo 6 or Revo 8
