Default Suzki Engine Interface - fuel flow requires reset every time

I have twin 150AP (2018), dual C-10 gauges, and engines interfaced with NMEA network to Simrad NSS Evo 3.

Specific problem is fuel flow. Flawless performance for approximately a year (engines purchased and installed May 2018), but starting earlier this summer (July 2019), engines on startup would display fuel burn at idle of 40 GPH (or similar). Thanks to invaluable assistance of folks at International Marine, they walked me through procedure of accessing Suzuki engine interface for each engine through the c-10 gauge and then re-setting the fuel flow. Performance was then again perfect, UNTIL NEXT STARTUP. I'm now having to go through the reset procedure every time I start the engines.

Besides being a PITA, the brief time during reset when the interface is calculating a burn of 40 gph is throwing off my total fuel and my economy measure for the trip intel on the SIMRAD.

Any thoughts on how to trouble shoot this problem?

Thank you I appreciate your assistance and thought it would be better to post here than email so that anyone else who has this problem may benefit from the answer!

Suzuki released a new version of the engine interface software earlier this year, mainly to address data instability issues people had experienced. For 2018 engines it is version 3.5.04.

I think it would be worth you downloading and installing the updated software.

Here is a link to where you can find it

Suzuki | Lowrance

I suggest that you update one interface cable at a time, you might need to temporarily unplug one from the network if your engines dont have separate keys. Otherwise, just turn one engine key to off, upload the update, then turn that engine off and the other one on and repeat. If both engines are “live” on the network when the update is selected it will try to update both at the same time and is likely to crash.

Once the updates are installed make sure that the network configuration is still correct (eg engines are still correctly designated as port and starboard.

Thank you! Is there a link to a page that explains the process of uploading the software update to the interface cable? Do you connect through NMEA or where exactly is the data port and what is the connector type? (USB? Proprietary?) I assume you need a windows laptop?

Thanks again! I’ll probably follow up with international marine I think they are tied up helping out in the Bahamas.

Moonlighter - I found the procedure you posted on the Suzuki forum using the simrad SD card slot. Will give that a try.

yes, its easy.

just make sure the SD card is no greater than 32GB capacity.

copy file to SD card.

insert card. In Simrad menu, find the SD card, select the update file.

As mentioned above, do one engine interface at a time. Select the file and then select upload. A progress bar shows it loading.
