Default Anyone in clear lake TX know why they closed the clear lake park boat ramp?

They closed the ramps under the Kemah bridge and now I just drove by the clear lake park ramp on the other side of clear lake and that one is closed too. What gives?

I don't know where else with a decent ramp to put my boat in. Nothing like the government taking away your hobby.

Which clear lake park ramp? The one off of Egret Bay?

Maybe due to the water quality/ITC fire runoff

They are widening the Kemah Bridge. My buddy owns Outriggers, he lost that as well.

Are they going forward with their plans to relocate?

Both ramps are closed now. The one under the bridge and the one at clear lake park by the Hilton. I know why the Kemah bridge ramp is closed, but what's the deal with also closing the clear lake park ramp?

Go use the one over off of Egret Bay. It's a short ride to clear lake, less traffic, and plenty of water. I launch my 28 from that ramp.

I actually checked that ramp out from the water on my boat. Looks like they had the end of the ramp marked and it looked really short. I guess since you launched a 28ft boat their it must not be accurate?

I have a triple axle trailer that's 35' long, with the 28' deep V boat, and never found the end on either side. I've used it half a dozen times in the last year or so at least. No issues if you're launching a bay boat.

You are talking about the public ramp under the 270 overpass right? The ramp isn't under the overpass but the parking lot is. I guess I'll just use that one then.

It was due to the ITC runoff. I will be using the one off of 270 as well if I want to run clear lake. Itís a shame the Kemah ones are closed with no plans to rebuild them.

What a bunch of idiots. So then the one off of 270 where it would be running off isn't closed? I took the boat out just a couple weeks ago and launched it at the clear lake park ramp and you could see the smoke from redfish island!

ditto, before i started storing my boat in a sling at clear lake marina, Egret bay launch was my go to launch. Depending on boat/trailer length you may have to utilize 2 of the docks (if boat ramp isnít busy) if you launch solo like me. I had to unload in one, idle over and tie off to another due to the short dock. By the time my boat/trailer was in deep enough to launch i was past or at the very end of the dock itself.

correct, the docks are short but I never had an issue with running out of concrete on the ramp.

It's also empty during the week with no crowd and no traffic issues. Great ramp.

Anyone ever let somebody next in line waiting to launch their boat park your truck and trailer for you while you hold the boat to the dock? That way they pull away with the trailer and you can just dock the boat back where the trailer was and wait for them to come back with your keys. Or is this a dumb idea? Figured instead of them standing their with their thumb up their ass, let them park the truck. Lol.

If your asking if i let a person I don’t know drive my vehicle, absolutely not. I don’t know that persons trailing skills. Hell if i was going to do that i’d Let my wife back up so i can launch/load the boat.

just to clarify, my wife & daughter are usually in the truck while I’m ‘solo’ launching. I’ve attempted for 18+ yrs to teach her to pull an trailer and/or load/unload the boat. I’ve learned in my case (I’m aware some wife’s can) it’s just less stressful and makes for a much better boating day for all involved if do it solo. But very soon my daughter is going to be old enough to drive, she will know how to trailer and drive the boat. Hell shes already better at both then my wife right now and my daughters only 14
