Default Starting the “Search”

So I am starting the search for a new bay boat. I have scoured the search here and cannot find a whole lot. I have a few in mind but would like to see what other suggestions are out there. I'm not opposed to custom but my budget may be. For the right price a road trip is always fun too. So here’s some info and criteria-
In Texas
Fish Lakes (lake more than bay because of distance) & Inshore Bays (avg of 2-5 ft of water)
Would like room for 4-5 give or take
Pretty sure I want a V-hull and no tunnel (have one now and me no likey)
21-23 ft range (edited)
Doesn't have to be a speed demon
Driest ride I can find for the price too
super shallow isn't a necessity but 12-18in would be cool
Large front casting deck for sight & bass fishing (newly added detail)
Enclosed motor well or no well at all
Lockable Rod storage is a huge plus
Flexible budget to say $65k (ouch that was hard to type)

Thanks in Advance,
Chad

You are going to have every brand boat named by the end of the day. Lol. I like blue wave.

That’s ok. I want to hear opinions good & bad. Blue Wave is on the shortlist right. Heck even the Warden likes the 2300 Pure Bay.

I forgot to mention, if going with bluewave, do the grey interior. Stays so much cleaner.

I don't know, the 2400 is a big boat for it's size (if that makes sense). Part of what use to be attractive about rolled gunnel Blazer was the no frou frou was reflected in the price. Now they are priced right up there with Blue Wave or any other. If I'm paying frou frou price. I want the frou frou lol.

I like the Blazer Bay's, they're nice boats but above pretty much what Josh said covers my thoughts too.

Don’t get me wrong. I like the blazers. I have a 2200 but I got a good deal on it used. They’re new prices have gotten out of hand tho.

You said BlackJack earlier. I think those are the best looking bay boats on the market but you can get a 24’ blue wave for for the price of a 224 Black Jack.

Key West 230BR or 246BR...hear there's a bigger one in the works- not sure if it's on the market yet.
And yeah- Kenner..hard to beat and hard to find. Know of one for sale though (not mine- guys that stores next to me)..PM me if interested. It's a real Kenner, pre-BassPro, but I believe a 22' V-tunnel.

Good intel, thanks. When the time is right I will definitely be looking there and maybe further east as well. My first buy was an impulse buy this one will be better thought out and actually planned.

Hey now, I didn't say they didn't ride good, or that I wouldn't get one used. Just think they are over priced for what you get when you buy new. Look at the used Market they seem to take on bigger deprecation than other brands priced the same new.

Since I have been researching the crap of this I have to say that Frontier has taken an early lead in this race. Blue Wave & Blazer Bay are in second for sure. I don't need every bell & whistle that can be installed on a boat but I have to make some concessions to appease the Warden. I want a big open deck for fishing, she wants a comfy helm, I want plenty of lockable storage so I'm not having to empty the boat every night while on a trip, she wants a stereo, I like the openness of no top, she wants shade of some sort. So I know I've got a way to go to find everything that we both want in a package that suits us both. I have found a few Frontiers already that are setup with damn near everything that we want but of course I'm not ready to buy. Please keep on with the suggestions along with pro's & cons of them. Some of the boats listed are absolutely amazing vessels but may just be out of my range price & distance wise but you never know. Where I am at in Texas I'll have to travel for the purchase of a bay boat. I have to admit that I wish the Epic boats were better because they sure look nice and accommodating but heck they seem to have a worse record than Mako (which I own) or Bayliner.

BJ 224's can be had used in the $45k-$55k range with motor warranty and plenty of FROO-FROO included. While i will never have an umbrella on a bay boat, ya gots to do what ya gots to do. Buddy sold his 224 here for full ask to a guy in North Carolina and it may be time for him to get another. PM me if you would like me to ask him when his new 224 is being delivered. His boats are always new/used and cherry when they sell.

I personally know of blue waves and blazer bays that have had gelcoat and even major structural problems after just a few years. I have heard of zero problems with frontiers and blackjacks

I’d check out Sportsman particularly the 247.
