Default Over night to Venice or Port Eads by boat

For those of you who have gone by boat to Venice or Port Eads for a few days, what do ya'll do with your fish that you catch on the first day? I guess by the rule you have to keep them whole for the ride home. Are there any other options that I'm not thinking of?

yeah the only option for multi-day trips is to have a cooler at a vehicle/camp to store the catch. in Louisiana you are allowed 2 days worth of limits in your possession but it has to be on land. obviously you dont have that option at port eads

If your traveling to Venice by boat for multiple days of fishing, just have the marina store your fish and ship everything back home when your done fishing.

You can clean multiple days of fish at Port Eads I a wildlife agent is available to certify your catch before cleaning. Call Port Eads to get the exact details.
You can only keep your fish whole in Venice if you are transporting them by boat when you leave, I believe.

The problem at Port Eads is that the LDWF rarely has anyone there to certify. I have only seen it once. When I have called well in advance to request it LDWF tells me probably not. But Port Eads is still a great place to stay. Make sure to verify they have fuel before you go.

Pretty sure Port Eads is closed. If not they've been doing a good job of making it look that way.

I was going to make a comment about South Pass being sketchy. I know it was pretty shallow just north of Port Eads a month or so ago.

SP is still pretty sketchy. I looked into staying there but decided not to due to all the complications it presents for fish limits.

From what I hear and have experienced firsthand it's more than sketchy at the moment.

I’m already worried about finding a bar in the pass in a center console

If I owned a 50ft+ Viking or whatever that does billfish tournaments - then I’d be extra worried

Will it ever be realistically dredged, seeing that it has minimal commercial usage? It is getting worse and worse. Rainy winter is going to push that much more silt down...

Yep. And the North is getting dumped on with more snow and rain. All that water will eventually come this way in the spring.

North east pass is my favorite for fishing east side of the river. If I fish west side I head out of grand isle.
