For the gulf, im considering a Grady White 330 or Fountain 33 SFC for my next boat. The express seating is ideal for long runs and comfort. If I wasnít taking kids and the wife into consideration, Iíd skip that and get a well used repower ready 36 Contender or 34 SeaVee. I would not get anything with a cabin under 30í, really under 32í but thatís being picky.

Id love to try a Cat but it would have to be one of the fast new designs, like freeman, seahunter, invincible etc. and I will never have that kinda change to spend.

Kids, wife and off shore in the gulf I think right now a Grady White 330 or Fountain 33 SFC with twin Suzuki 300s would be pretty great. Likely a 1.4gph boat at 4200 rpm cruise . Newer 2008 plus maybe 350 dual prop Suzukiís .

Totally agree, from what I can tell those are perfect options. (Speaking as a total genius with a grand total of zero experience under my belt on the bigger boats. Ha!)

Even the guy at the dealership I was talking with that sells cats politely put it like you did - basically, for what you want a car would be great, for about 2.5 times my budget. I just canít do it. (Not saying they arenít awesome, I just donít see myself dropping well over a 1/4 million on on a newer hull cat. Maybe down the road on a well cares for used one for much less.)

im really starting to see us gettting into a slightly used, smaller CC with warranty and options that someone else took a bath on new, letting the kid grow a little and see what our needs look like in the real world, and then adding a Carolina Classic 28 or something.

Then, when I feel like drilling holes in it and making it a reef because itís down again for some obscure diesel onboard system, I jump in the CC outboard and go fishing. Boom. Poor judgment outburst avoided
