Default WTB Stainless plate or pipe

Hey guys Im looking to buy some SS (304 or 316) plate or 18-24 pipe. Its just for a firebox on a smoker Im building so mix-matched thickness & grade is no problem. Id like the box to be about 4 long, 2 tall x 2 wide.

Let me know if anyone has any or knows where some is.

There is a place in New Orleans called "Aluminum and Stainless"

They will have it AND they will cut it

At least they used to

Alum stainless was bought out by phenoix metals and no longer sell drops. You will have to buy full lengths of pipe and full sheets. Try bayou metals in Slidell.

You might want to google fabrication shops that do industrial piping in your area. They will have drops that they could sell you before selling to a scap yard.

If you know someone that works for a pipeline company you might try to find a piece of it. It's not stainless but pipeline pipe is the toughest stuff I've ever seen. My uncle used to work pipelines and he's got a grill he built from some back in the 60's, it looks like it was built yesterday.

I work on pipelines. I could probably get a piece of drop, but its heavier than Id like to deal with. I want some 1/8 wall thickness stuff thats a lot lighter. I actually found a 4x10 x 1/8 plate that I can get for about $400. Thats not too bad. This is gonna be one Hell of a smoker when Im done.

Default Pipe

Give Elevating Boats Inc. a call in St. Bernard parish. I recently had them cut some 3/16 plate for the firebox on my 500 gallon smoker. I actually had them bend two pieces, so I only had 2 seams to weld. It was unbelievably cheap also. They specialize in building small cranes and hoists for the oil and gas industry, but were eager to handle my small project as well.

Give these guys a call. They have or can make anything stainless you need. Very reasonable and watched out for my shipping expenses.

I bought this from a neighbor just the the other day. I was gonna make a smoker myself, but hey if the price is right

18" diameter, 4' wide all stainless inside and out. Even the cooking grates are like 1/4" solid stainless rods.

I just need a firebox on it.
