Default Rod Advice

Is there anything $300 or less that will do a good job for deep drop and sword? It will be for my new electric reel. I may need 2 different rods? Iím new to this as far as the tackle is concerned. I have a lot of pinnacle stuff that I like but donít know what to buy

Call James w/ Frigate Sales, he’ll hook you up. He’s on here, just search Frigate

You can get a deep drop rod for that price. I don’t think you can get a daytime sword rod for that price. I added up what I have in components on one I’m building and it’s over $400. That’s with some pretty low end components.

Thanks for the call yesterday, appreciate it.
I do not have a sword rod right now, but it's coming soon. Thanks for thinking of me though!

IMO, a sword rod can be a deep drop rod, but not the other way around.

I just got my sword rod from John with pinnacle I went with his custom rod it was 699 you might could knock some off that price if you went with a regular bent butt vs the Winthrop terminator adjust a butt. According to his catalog in the classifieds he does a non custom sword deep drop for around $300 but it is a different blank and components. Most of the rods I considered were 650-700

You could wait to see what James comes out with. If it compares in quality to his deep drop rods it will be great.

Trust me Iíve been putting together gear for swords and hard to find a good rod for less than $650. Iíd double down on my pinnacle rec. The regular daytime sword rod is $350-380 or you may can find a quality used rod

Yeah that thing is a bit hokey - a copy of the $100 Aftco model but if you are anything but straight on top of the fish I could see it being short lived.. A couple short minutes with a heat source, some epoxy and a $20 Fuji replacement and you're golden.
