Default Who’s going offshore Sunday?

We’re possibly going offshore Sunday out of Venice. Haven’t seen many tuna reports but want to give it a try.

Who else is going?

Default 1/28/19 east lumps report

we went out of pass christian to east lumps.
0-1ft waves.
simrad halo radar before sunlight .
sea hunt gamefish 30 with twin 300 yamaha .
we jigged, trolled, and chunked.
caught a few large amberjack with blue runners live bait on the bottom; it's too bad that they're out of season.
caught a few 8ft blacktip sharks which were fun; hundreds of these circled the boat for an hour.
caught too many to count jack crevelle which fought as hard as the sharks.
we didn't see any wahoo or tuna, but we had a fun trip.
next trip, we're going to ram powell to see if we can find my bucket list wahoo and YFT.

let me know if anyone else does well out there.
maybe hilton knows why tuna weren't there.

let me know how you do this weekend. i gotta get more brownie points from my wife before i go again.

Forecast looks sketchy anytime wind blows 10 to 15 expect 3 footers plus. Tight window if it were me I'd wait for another weekend unless forecast changes to 5 to 10 mph for a day before you go. Unless you running a 27 plus foot boat. Jmo I dont like 2 to 4s in my boat but with my work schedule now days msy have to take a few azz whippings this year lol

The Crevalle Jack will flat wear you out. Especially when they get in that 20 lb+ range.

My prediction: The reason they aren’t there is too much wind out of the north pushing out bad water. Things will start to possibly start to turn around after the weekend as things shift from the east to the south but just as it gets a few good days blowing from the south another big push from the north comes in.

Right now im still predicting things won’t turn on until Feb 6th. But then it is a matter of finding a window before it turns back north to screw things up another week.

My $.02.

Anybody going? I was thinking about making a run tomorrow morning.... weather looking ok, forecast calling for 1-2 and 5-10 winds. Shouldn't be many boats out with super bowl on. Somebody please speak up if there isn't anything going on out there!

Had a few wahoo around last week. Trolled for about an hour and hooked 3 and landed 2.

Nope. Spent an hour looking at ripcharts and wasn’t really impressed. Was going solo if I did and didn’t want to run all the way to the floaters if I wasn’t sure on weather.

There's a big system I'm seeing showing up early Friday morning that's going to screw things back up. LIke 30+ mph winds. But, if someone could get out Wednesday / Thursday I'd be interested if there's anything chomping. If the currents are bringing in some good water conditions might turn on Wed/Th if you can get there. Total theory until someone tests it for me.

what fishing spots do people target for the Mississippi billfish tournament? this weekend warrior might swing for the fences this year.

Need 2 good fishing days. The first for boats to dump 10,000 pounds of pogies to get the tuna headed to the lump. The second day for boats to catch all the fish that showed up from the chumming from the day before.
Never works out with a one day window.
