Default Aluminum Hull Recommendation for Purchase, USED

I am looking for advice on purchasing a used Aluminum Bay Boat Hull:
Must Haves:
  • 20-25 ft LOA
  • Center console preferred, but not necessary
  • Outboard Power, fast
  • Casting deck fore and aft with unobtrusive bow railings
  • Trolling motor mount with pedestal seat up front
  • no tee top
  • Able to cruise large, deep rivers, bays and lakes without getting pounded or excessively sprayed
  • Low maintenance cleaning of decks/hull
I would like to spend most of my $25k budget to fully retrofit the used hull with a Yamaha outboard, new electronics (including networked GPS into trolling motor), retrofit used tandem trailer... If anyone knows of a used aluminum hull available that meets the above specs, or just a model they would recommend, please shoot me a note. I am currently living in Virginia, but spent enough time in Louisiana to realize my next hull might be under a tarp there, hence the post here. Thanks for your interest.

Also check the classifieds in Louisiana Sportsman. Lots of aluminum rigs there. Good luck.

Gravois, Gaudet, and Hanko are 3 names to look for. Not sure how easy it will be to find one in your price range though

Call the guy in this LAS ad. Again, not knowing what your budget for boat and re-outfitting actually is....but, this one is ready to fish. The builder is selling it. Not sure if it was his own or if he is selling for a customer. His name is Jason Romero. Guy designs and builds a solid boat. I had a flat bottom, 1854 center console with a surface drive set up that I fished the marsh and duck hunted with. I put it through the wringer....it handled everything I through at it. He usually won't return a phone call until the third call....says it eliminates the tire kickers. Text is probably best. Super nice guy to work/deal with, too.

Uncle J Bay Boat

Just saw the no t-top and bow rails....I'm sure Jason can modify this to whatever you want....again, depending on budget.

We have a 1997, 22ft. Gravois Bay boat. This boat will pound you and soak your crew. Love our boat but it is what it is.

Was just perusing LAS....saw this ad....which reminded me, Gaudet Boats makes a really nice looking hull, too. Not sure if this is a Gaudet or not....But, this one does not have a T-Top.

Savedbygrace is right. I have a 1997 22' Gravois also, best fishing boat around, loud, wet, and hard on the body(stiff hull, sharp corners), but if you want a lifetime hull with low maintenance and not worry about hitting an object, this is it. Gaudet and Hanko build solid boats, but are even worse rides and layouts are not so good imo. I wouldn't suggest aluminum that is raw material or painted a dark color(hot as hell).

Default Aluminum Boat

I may have the boat you are looking for. It is a 22’ Sportsman’s Fab with a 200 Yamaha 4 stroke. It is rigged out nice. Sips fuel. If you send me your phone number, I can text pics. My name is Kyle 225-937-5775. Boat is located in Houma, LA.

Default 22' gravois

I know this is way over your budget but it popped up on the Louisiana sportsman and I figured I'd throw this in the mix might be able to make a deal.

That boat has been on Louisiana Sportsman for at least 6 months so they may want to offer you a good deal.

Definitely the first time I have seen that one posted. Nice looking build. Those Gravois are solid as the day is long!

They may be the best boats ever built but it's still has a 10 year outboard and under powered trolling motor for 50k.

There is a reason that boat has been on there for a months. If by deal you mean cut the price more than in half, maybe.

OP, there's a boat that I see on my way to work that just dawned on me as maybe fitting the bill for what you want. I'm pretty sure it's a Breaux hull with an OX66 on the back. I'll try to stop by tomorrow and get some more details for you.
